Bob Hancock

Bob Hancock is a proud native of Nebraska, who was born in Grand Island in 1944. Bob was enthusiastic about the collision repair industry at an early age, working for Sorensen Body Shop in Grand Island from 1954 – 1964. After graduating from high school, Bob enrolled in the Auto Body Technology Program at Nebraska’s Vocational Technical School in Milford.

After graduating from the Vo-Tech program in 1966, Bob worked as a metal technician in Emerald Nebraska and he and his wife soon established Bob’s Body Shop in Grand Island in 1969.

Bob’s energy helped fuel the growth of the Nebraska Autobody Association. Bob was a charter member of the newly founded association, which formed in 1977. He was subsequently elected President, serving his term with distinction from 1981 – 1982. Bob was also a charter member of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) and served as its Membership Chairman from 1985-1986 while also serving as SCRS National Director from 1985-1987. In 1992, Bob traveled to the USSR as a delegate of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists.

In 1986 Bob was the Area 6 winner of SCRS’s Up, Up, and Away membership campaign and became the NABA historian. Bob co-chaired the NABA convention in Grand Island in 1990 and received a certificate for having completed the Perfect 10 Repair Group Forum in Sydney Australia. In 1998, Bob co-chaired the NABA convention in Kearney.

Bob was co-recipient of the Gold Class Recognition Award from the Nebraska Autobody Association as well as the Special Recognition Award in 2003 for his valued contributions to the collision repair industry.

The Nebraska Autobody Association is proud to recognize Bob Hancock for his long-standing contributions to the collision repair industry. The industry, its members and allied members have benefited immensely from Bob’s enthusiastic spirit, which has served to the betterment of the industry for present and future generations.
