Harry Dall

Harry was born in Omaha on July 20, 1948 to Harry & Rose Dall. He was the second of five children and the oldest boy.  His fascination with cars started at a very early age.  At the age of eight he painted his dad’s car with a vacuum. At twelve he turned a car on it’s side to get at the transmission - and was allowed to drive it around the block when he finally got it running. Before he was old enough to drive he owned 5 cars.

At South High he took shop and his junior year he started working for Terminal Garage and Body Shop on South 13th St. He learned the trade and he never used another vacuum to paint.

After 3 years in the Navy he met and married Karen.  He built a garage in the back yard and restored his first car; a rusty 34 Plymouth coupe.  When times got hard in the sheet metal business he kept things going by working on other cars out of this garage. In 1983 He built a new shop and H & K Auto Restoration became a full-fledged body shop.

In 1980 Don Peers got him interested in the NABA. Harry was always looking for ways to improve himself and his business.  He attended the NABA board of director meetings and was given the Rookie of the Year award in 1990. He served as Treasurer for 4 years and Vice President for 2. He enjoyed helping with and attending I-Car classes, conventions and trips.

He was active in NABA for 20 years until he sold the shop and business to Chris Hunke in 2000. He continues to work on his own restorations and helping others with theirs.
